Transforming RSF's digital ecosystem into a dedicated
hub for freedom of speech, journalist support, and collaboration.

Reporters Without Borders (RSF) is an international non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to safeguarding free information and press freedom. RSF holds a consultant status at the United Nations, further highlighting its commitment to these vital principles

My Role

Responsible for design thinking, user research, workshops, information architecture, and user flow. Additionally, responsible for project management and customer relationships.

Challenge

As RSF celebrated three decades of advocacy, the challenge was clear: rejuvenate their image and reignite community engagement. In 2015, as we embarked on this project, 128 journalists and 178 net citizens were imprisoned worldwide. RSF’s mission was to ensure their voices remained heard and to garner increasing support for the fundamental right to information.
Our answers to this challenge:

01. Streamline Navigation

Simplify information access and eliminate complexity.

02. Establish a unified experience

Ensure a consistent brand image across all RSF websites.

03. Foster Diverse Engagement

Offer multiple avenues for individuals to support RSF.

04.Enhance mobile accessibility

Make the RSF website mobile-friendly for broader access.

01. Streamline Navigation

We addressed the complexity of the deep menu by introducing shortcuts to essential content on every page while featuring items in the main menu that align with RSF's actions and engagement. To enhance the content management team experience, we implemented a robust taxonomy system that seamlessly links all content, including figures, images, and articles, to specific regions or countries.

02. Establish a Unified Experience

RSF had numerous campaign and funding-related websites, all requiring a consistent brand image to foster a unified experience for RSF supporters and streamline content management for the RSF team.

03. Foster Diverse Engagement

Our aim was to ensure that every visitor could easily find a comfortable way to support RSF on the website. To achieve this, we created various engagement mechanisms that catered to individuals at different stages of their journey.

04. Enhance Mobile Accessibility

Recognizing the significance of mobile usage, we prioritized adapting the RSF menus for mobile accessibility. This optimization aimed to ensure that RSF's mission could reach supporters and advocates on their smartphones and tablets.
